CYBER BULLYING 

 I hope this topic is of as much interest to others as it is to me not merely because its sadly a familiar ground but because of the alarming increase in the cases of cyber bullying.As we know that every thing has its pros and cons so the dark side of internet is cyber bullying.

Cyber bullying is the act of harassing , bullying, threatening, blackmailing and targeting the person through the means of internet and social media. Its not just an unknown person do this it can be done by someone known to you. Example of cyber bullying are trolling someone on social media,hacking someones profile ,misuse of other persons information,blackmailing ,etc.

Cyber bullying is really dangerous. There are numerous victims of it. It is not a light matter as it has various effects on victims like it can physically , emotionally,mentally and socially deteriorate a person . The main target are especially teenagers/youngsters who are active on internet and social media. Bully usually remains anonymous as it becomes easy to bully without the risk of being caught.

Effect of Cyber Bullying

  1. Leads to depression , anxiety, self doubt, low self esteem 

  2. Disturbs the peace of mind

  3. Suicide Attempts

  4. Physical harm

  5. Destroy the reputation of an individual

 

 

Cyber Bullying is sometimes hard to notice or see cyber bullying taking place ,it is harder to recognize. Also most information is permanent and public if not reported or removed. It can seriously have a huge impact on the goodwill of the victim.

How to prevent Cyber Bullying

 As we all know that prevention is better than cure so we must take the following points under observation.We should create awareness that not to share personal information online such as phone number, house address and also not to post any explicit photo of yourself. We should not discuss any private matter on social media. we should not share our internet password and our account details with anyone.

 

 The most common places where cyber bullying occurs is on social media platforms such as Facebook , Instagram .It is also done through emails, Direct or indirect calling,Chat rooms, online gaming platform etc.

In a nutshell Cyber Bullying is one of the biggest crime and can have harmful impact on the victim . It may cause the loss of life of an individual. Since environment is dynamic so the Technology also keeps on changing so there should be awareness regarding the change in technology and how to use it effectively and efficiently. Cyber crime must be reported instantly without any delay. There are various laws made for cyber crime/bully and the cyber security tries to their fullest to reach out to the criminal.Hence we should take necessary measures from our side.
